It seemed to me, watching, that if you were dextrous enough to gift-wrap an independent-minded amphibian, you could just about manage a condom.

About This Quote

In the popular song “It seemed to me, watching, that if you were dextrous enough to gift-wrap an independent-minded amphibian, you could just about manage a condom.” This is a very clever and humorous metaphor. In this metaphor, the narrator compares the way in which a man manages to accomplish certain tasks to how he wraps a condom. The condom is wrapped in ribbons to ensure that it will stick firmly to the man’s body. When he is finished with it, he can throw it away.

On the other hand, if you are dextrous enough to wrap an independent-minded amphibian using ribbons (which will presumably not stick), you can just about manage to get one on with your fingers. The amphibian then has no choice but to accept the ribbons as part of his body until he has grown accustomed to them and can decide for himself whether it is time to leave the ribboned condom behind.
